The weeks continued to pass, Felix and Cry growing more dependant on eachother as their bond grew stronger than it was in life. The videos and updates were fast and frequent, Cry’s joy seeping out of each video as they quickly drowned out the sadness the videos in Felix’s absence had delivered.
“Should we get some lunch?” Cry asked as he lifted his sleepy angel friend to his shoulder. Felix yawned but nodded as he sat on Cry’s shoulder, holding onto his hair. Cry chuckled and moved out to the car, unlocking it and getting in, letting Felix remain where he was. “What do you want?”
“Anything” Felix answered. Cry nodded and reversed the car out before driving along.

The road was slippery, having been coated with rain, making Cry slide as he sped along. The other roads were closed so he decided to shortcut on one of the other roads, speeding the car up and sitting at about 70. It was cold and a thunderstorm was due soon. He didn’t want to chance it. Felix shivered and Cry smiled, moving a finger and letting the Swede clutch it in comfort. It was quiet, the radio barely audible until the sound of whipping winds originated. Felix froze and Cry looked in confusion at him before turning his attention back to the road. His eyes widened as he saw an angel sitting on the bonnet of his car, blocking his view.
“Felix... It’s time to go” Daniel said, reaching through the glass. Felix shook his head and whimpered as the fingers clutched around him. Cry tried to reach for him but the both vanished. It left Cry just enough time to see the semi-trailer hurtling down the street at him.

Felix fidgeted as he sat in the dark room, a large contrast to the white space of heaven. Immense pain swallowed his being, making his wings ache and his halo burn. He sighed, taking it off his head and running his hands along it, trying to cool it down but only succeeding for a few moments. The door creaked open and Felix looked up a moment before looking back down to the halo in his hands.
“Listen... I’m sorry” Daniel said, taking a seat on the bed next to him. Felix flapped his wings gently, helping him keep balance. “But the court would like to see you now” He continued. Felix moved his halo back in place and stood, flapping his wings half heartedly, making him fly about erratically although he didn’t seem to notice. The golden sheen of his halo dimmed slowly, adding to Felix’s wonky flying and to Daniel’s concern.
“Felix?” Daniel asked, approaching the wobbling Swede and holding a hand out for him to land on. Felix took the chance, his body falling limply onto the hand waiting for him. It made a sliver of panic run through Daniel but he kept it unvoiced as he watched as Felix struggled to breathe. It usually happened with angels but unlike Felix, they had been able to stay with their chosen person rather than being whisked away. The closer you were, the less it hurt.
“I want to see the court” Felix said, voice quiet and laced with pain, making Daniel frown.
“Come on then”

“But I have to go back!”
“No you will not!” One of the angels roared, making a loud clamour rise and causing Felix to cover his ears in pain. Daniel helped, covering the Swede’s ears more firmly until the noise settled with the hit of the gavel on the desk. Daniel uncovered Felix’s ears and took a step back to his rightful place, leaving Felix alone on the pedestal he was assigned.
“I have to go back. Is it not an angel’s duty to watch their charge?” He questioned, making murmurs break out.
“Your job was deemed over before the accident occurred. You have no ties to that man” Mary - The leader of the court - said firmly.
“But I am! My bond is more than just obligation. It’s family. It’s love. It’s... a promise” Felix looked down, wings trembling as pain washed through his tired form. He just wanted the pain to end.
“You are an guardian angel. You are not permitted to meddle in human affairs!” Mary shouted, earning a roar of agreement. Daniel moved to cover Felix’s ears but he brushed the fingers away.
“He will become unstable. He will harm your charges” He pointed a finger at Mary and small hushed whispers broke out. “He will attack others. He isn’t safe-” The increased sound of a heart rate monitor as well as yelling and screaming filled the air. Nobody moved except Felix who clutched at the material near his heart at hearing Cry scream out his name and fight against the nurses who tried to restrain him. Panicked murmurs rose as Felix began to yelp and scream, spots beginning to dance in his vision. His wings twitched and shook as his body trembled in pain. Daniel gasped and rushed forward, catching Felix as he fell slightly, a few feathers falling loose from his wings. Daniel looked towards Mary and the other court members
"Please" He said, making the mumbles Occur faster.
"Send him back" Mary said with a wave of her hand, causing the area around Felix to glow.
"You're going home Felix. It'll be okay. I promise"

Tired eyes fought to open, even though it felt like the weight of the world was keeping them shut. His arms felt heavy too and his body ached and pained. What... had happened? Oh- Car crash... But... That was because...
“FELIX” Cry yelled, eyes snapping open and the pain inside him vanishing for a split second as he looked around the room. His leg shifted under the covers and something touched him, making him look down. His panicked heart calmed greatly and his eyes lowered as he looked down at his lap. Feathers were scattered around him and the small wings on his back were curled tightly around him as his body shook slightly but it was Felix.
“You’re alright...” Cry sighed in relief, leaning back and looking towards the roof, mind and gaze becoming distracted. “Thank goodness...”

Loud beeping and shouting from various people tore Felix from his slumber. His eyes opened quickly and he sat bolt upright, seeing people rush past him and stop. He turned, seeing them all trying to attend to Cry. Felix screamed and tried to get to his feet with the pushing and his tired, aching limbs. The talking around him got louder as did the beeping before one single note droned from the machine and all weight and pain that had been thrust on Felix just... vanished. His tired mind clicked as the droning was shut off and the blanket was pulled over Cry’s face, shielding him from the world. Light sobs began to escape the Swede as his wings drooped and his halo dulled, almost becoming black. Feathers fell from his back freely, beginning to show the bones that aided his body in its hovering and flight. It sickened him. He had failed and now Cry was dead. He wouldn’t even get to see him again either. Guardian Angels lived on a different plane of heaven compared to the rest of the occupants. Cry was gone and Felix would never see him again.

Warm hands slowly snaked around Felix, making all his motions stop. His breath caught and his unbeating heart even felt frozen. He knew those fingers. Everything from the fingerprint to that little scar on the pinky to the discoloured section from one of their incidents. But... It couldn’t-
“I’m sorry” A forehead pressed into his back, a motion he knew so well yet was only ever given by one person. “I’m sorry I made you cry again” Fingers began to dance at his sides, not in a tickling manner but a soothing one, something he had loved and adored on those early mornings when he yearned for more sleep. “Forgive me Felix” That voice...
“Cry...?” Felix turned, coming face to face with the grinning expression that only one person ever showed him - Cry.
“It’s me” He said with a grin, causing Felix to hug his face and anything else he could come in contact with.
“It’s you! It’s really you!” Felix shouted in joy. Cry chuckled and nodded, eyes widening slightly as he saw Felix’s halo turn from the almost black to a blinding white in almost a second. His wings ruffled too and the beginnings of new feathers began to grow, making the American relax.
“It’s me and this time-” He paused, lifting Felix into his hands and looking at him, seeing that cocky grin he always wore. “-We’re together forever”

“I want Felix to take care of this one” Mary said, holding a clipboard with information regarding Felix’s next person to care for.
“Are you sure?” Daniel asked as he stood next to the lady. Mary nodded and Daniel chuckled. “Boys! You got work to do!”
“On it!” Two forms quickly flew past, whisking the clipboard from Mary and causing her feathers to ruffle and her hair to blow around erratically as she stared in shock. Daniel chuckled as they both turned to look at the two men who had flown by. They were currently fighting over the clipboard, using their halo’s as weapons against eachother. Mary sighed but Daniel laughed heartily.
“Go on boys!” He shouted, making them both stop in their actions, giving a salute before diving down through the clouds.
“What am I doing...?” Mary asked, placing a hand to her head.
“Don’t fret” Daniel said. “Those two are good choices” He told her. Mary raised an eyebrow.
“Really?” She asked. He nodded.
“Those two are the best Guardian Angels we will ever have” He said with a smile.

Felix grinned madly as he entered the room, Cry on his heels, both men standing next to the table where Miss Moore was slumped, sobbing lightly.
“Miss Moore” Cry said, making the lady jolt up, looking over at both with a shocked expression. Felix laughed as he flew up, taking his place on Cry’s shoulder.
“So...” He began. “Wanna be a Guardian Angel?”
---
“Alright Felix, Here’s your job” Mary said, handing over the clipboard. Felix took it, browsing it before nodding.
“Come on guys!” He shouted, making Mary tilt her head in confusion as she watched the Swede dive into the clouds towards earth, followed by Cry, Daryl. Miss Moore, The Late Night Crew and all their other friends. Daniel laughed as he watched them all vanish.
“They’re a little legion now” He said, smiling at Mary. “Don’t worry-”
Felix grinned as he waved to the young child who gasped at him and his many other followers.
“That one’s got Guardian Angels now”
